안녕하세요!

I know I’m late again… these posts are supposed to come on either Tuesday or Wednesday but I didn’t forget this time! I was just being lazy…

Okay, so a few years ago, I did a post on this comparing it with 길다 (gil-da). Both of these words reference a way to describe the length of something but they do so differently. 길다 (gil-da) is something long and 짧은 (jjalb-eun) is short.

So let’s look mainly at 짧다 (jjalb-da).

Word:

  • 짧다 (jjalb-da) | to be short

i.e.,

  • 길은 짧아요. (gil-eun jjalb-ayo.) | “The road is short.”
  • 나는 짧은 편지를 보냈어요. (naneun jjalb-eun pyeonjileul bonaess-eoyo.) | “I sent a short letter.”
    • 짧은 ( jjalb-eun) is conjugated here to use as a way to only talk about the short letter. So in this instance, it will come before the word it is describing rather than being at the end of the sentence.
  • 책이 짧아요. (chaeg-i jjalb-ayo.) | “The book is short.”

I’m going to start using more examples of different ways to use descriptive words when the WOTD is focused on adjectives just so you guys can see how to use them in a variety of ways in sentences.

Okay, that’s it for today!

안녕하세요!

Part 2!!

Okay, so this is a continuation from the last post. This is another phrase I hear all the time and never really thought about what it means.

Let’s get started!

Phrase:

  • 너 마음대로 해 (ma-eumdaelo hae ) | “do whatever you like”

I think this is pretty fitting in a situation where someone says/does something and we’re not in particular agreeance with it but we say something like, “If that’s what you want to do then do what you want.” Or, “If that’s how you feel then it’s whatever.”

I hope that makes sense. I usually hear this used in a similar context so that’s why I’m thinking it fits in those circumstances.

And of course… I’ll probably actually be using this one.

안녕하세요!

Okay so I wanted to do a couple of phrases that I just learned recently! I hear them a lot but never really thought about what they meant and then one day… I stumbled on them! Hahaha! So now I’m sharing them with you guys!

Let’s get started!

  • Phrase:
    • 말도 마 (maldo ma)

Literally means, “Don’t talk” or “don’t talk too” however, I found out that it can also mean: “don’t get me started.”

I’m not sure if this is something I’ll be using too often but it is really cool to have in the mental vocabulary bank!

You guys… I did not realize it had been so long since I last posted… I literally forgot. I was doing so many things at one time and when I finally sat down for a moment I remembered, it’s been over a month since I blogged. I’m so sorry.

I’m resetting that reminder on my phone… I am also setting a reminder to slow down and breathe.

Let’s get started!

Word:

  • 친절하다 (chin-jeol-hada) [adj.] | to be nice; to be kind

i.e.,

  • 그녀는 친절한 여자입니다. (geunyeoneun chinjeolhan yeojaibnida.) | “She is a kind woman.”
  • 아이는 친절했어요. (aineun chinjeolhaess-eoyo.) | “The child was nice.”

I really couldn’t think of another word this week… I’m sorry. I feel bad because I’m already super late posting again.

Please forgive me.

Also, my posts may be a bit infrequent again for a bit. I thought it was going to be a super busy week for me that week has turned into multiple weeks and it doesn’t look like it’s slowing down any. All work related. I hope soon it will be please bare with me.

I’ll return…

Culture. Music. Entertainment. Life beyond K-Drama…
